Zelpa

Our family-owned business was established in 1965 by Sulem Gros under the name "Cellpawol". At the beginning, the company focused on creating a recycling solution for cellophane, which at the time could not be recycled. This led to the innovative production of shredded cellophane, also known as "cellophane wool". This shredded material became widely used for decorative and protective packaging purposes.

Today, we proudly continue this tradition with BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene), which has replaced cellophane, as well as silicone coated and wet strength papers. These materials are notoriously difficult to recycle through conventional methods. Our commitment to providing sustainable recycling solutions remains at the core of our mission.

From waste to value

Through the years our company have advanced and looked for ways to broaden its capabilities and expand the range in products that are difficult to get recycled in regular pulp or granules but our solutions still make it possible to offer them a 2nd life with converting them into new products with alternative applications.

Our primary materials are purchased in the form of rolls and sheets, which are then processed through our in-house production facility located at the prison of Merksplas, Belgium. In collaboration with the inmates, we convert these materials to meet the specific requirements of our customers, ensuring quality and customization tailored to their needs.

Towards a more sustainable future

Additionally, we have established a network of trusted converting partners abroad who utilize similar solutions to ours. This collaboration enables us to purchase materials in large quantities while maintaining the flexibility to serve our suppliers effectively and discreetly. Many of these materials are products that are not suitable for resale in a first-choice market, and we ensure their proper handling and processing in line with industry standards.

Recently, we expanded our operations and relocated our offices and logistics handling to a new warehouse in Hoogstraten. This move enhances the efficiency of loading and unloading processes while providing a better and bigger storage for goods.
